Steve is a management consultant with expertise in assessment, leadership, succession planning, compensation analysis and strategic insight. Since 2011, he was head of talent advisory research at Options Group, Sheffield Haworth and, most recently, Marlin Hawk. Prior to consulting, Steve was an executive search professional at Options Group from 1993 to 2009, where he specialized in such areas analytics, research, quantitative analysis, quantitative trading and quantitative portfolio management. His clients included investment banks and hedge funds in US, Latin American and EMEA markets.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Tufts University in 1992, and in 2015, Steve completed his Master of Arts degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at University of Illinois, where he focused on cognitive ability and taught social psychology. His academic background and many years of search experience give him a unique perspective among assessment industry professionals. In 1990, Steve spent a year studying at Pontifícia Universidade Catôlica do Rio de Janeiro. He speaks Portuguese fluently, and has utilized the language in working with Brazil-based clients.
Steve is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He enjoys reading psychology and management journal articles—including research on leadership, personnel selection, adverse impact, small groups and attitudes—and finding practical applications for what he learns.
Steve has a deep interest in music. He has played bass guitar since he was 15 years old, has performed professionally, and has managed an international festival of experimental music. He also enjoys reading social theory, watching art films, traveling, skiing and playing tennis. Above all, he enjoys the company of his wife, young son, and their French Bulldog.
